• 5.0 out of 5 stars from TWH Rose -- This is a book that I plan to read many times : This book is about the author's discovery of (to quote Joe Camp)The Soul of the Horse. Mr. Lombard's journey started when he looked into the eyes of 2 horses he had just met. From there on with determination, much soul-searching and love and respect for the horse's innate nature, he not only found that special connection with horses but also found himself. The experiences he describes, the reasons why he follows this path, the deep connection he experiences with horses ( I wish I could meet Alto, the horse at an Arizona ranch) really touched my heart and gave me a much better understanding of the courage and the willingness of horses to help us humans. Reading this book made me feel like I was there experiencing Mr. Lombard's amazing connection to these magnificent animals. It has also made a difference in my relationship with my horses. • 5.0 out of 5 stars from J. Canfield -- Inspires courage for making life's choices : I've been around horses most of my life. Second guessing my judgement has been a huge hurdle to overcome. But Chris has a way of sharing with such thought and emotion. He made it so easy to identify with the life lessons. And he has helped me regain some much needed courage. He is so sensitive to how horses teach us so many things if only we are willing to give them a chance. And, boy does he open up to them, to us and to himself. I've read a lot of books, studied a lot of programs, but nothing hit me as hard as this book. I came away with understanding how we don't have to be perfect. We just have to open our minds and our hearts and follow our own personal journey. We truly are here to grow and learn. If you enjoy reading about intrinsic nature of our own behaviors, not just horses, give this story a look. Of course, it does give insight on the true nature of the equine psyche, so if you spend time with horses, it may benefit you to strengthen your relationship with your animals.
